Hiking and Wine tour in Cinque Terre

Walking across the best Ligurian trails discovering small and local vineyards and wineries

In a small group of max 8 partecipants, travelers will discover the beautiful landscapes of Cinque Terre with easy trekking excursions on panoramic paths while visiting wine producers of the area. This is ideal for a group of friends, families and colleagues that wish to experience Cinque Terre in an exclusive way.

Day 1: Genoa/ Pisa 

Pick up in Genoa or Pisa airport and private transfer to the hotel in Bonassola/ La Spezia. Accommodation at the hotel and free time.
Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: The Mesco promontory – from Levanto to Monterosso

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning train ride to Levanto a short visit of the town. Then you hike on a beautiful and varied path up to the Mesco promontory which divides the bay of Levanto from Monterosso, the first village of the Cinque Terre.
The hilltop, called Punta Mesco, offers an amazing view over the whole Cinque Terre coastline.
The tour ends in Monterosso with a promenade along the beach and some spare time for a visit of the old town centre.

Day 3: From Monterosso to Vernazza on the ancient pilgrimage paths

Breakfast at the hotel. Hike on an ancient pilgrimage path to the sanctuaries high above Monterosso and Vernazza. The trail starts in Monterosso, the largest village of the Cinque Terre which has a beautiful beach promenade.
After a short stop in the old town the trail leads up the sanctuary Madonna di Soviore at 465 m above sea level. Thereafter the path continues offering wonderful views over the sea through the Mediterranean shrub land until the sanctuary of Madonna di Reggio, a magic place with ancient trees and a nice picnic area. The trail ends in the picturesque village Vernazza. Here you have the possibility to meet a local wine grower directly in his cellar and to taste his white and red wine.

Hiking trail: about 4 hours. Altitude difference +/- 550 m.

Day 4: Hiking through the vineyards between Corniglia and Manarola

Breakfast at the hotel. A hike on one of the most beautiful trails of the National Park. From Corniglia you follow the trail to the little village Volastra which leads through terrace fields with vineyards high above the sea. In Volastra you meet a local wine grower, visit his vineyard and of course also taste the wines accompanied by typical snacks in his cellar. Then you continue the hike to Manarola.

Day 5: Great Panorama between Riomaggiore and Portovenere

BReakfast at the hotel. Today you do the most challenging hike but also that one with the best views! in the early morning you go by train to the village Riomaggiore, the southernmost town of the Cinque Terre. Hike on an ancient path up to the church of Montenero from where you enjoy an unique view over the whole Cinque Terre coast.
The trail leads then through pine and chestnut woodlands until you reach the little hamlet Campiglia. Up there you have a magnificent view over the Gulf of Poets, the island Palmaria and further the Apuan Alps.
In Campiglia you have the possibility to meet the most famous and innovative winegrowers of the area for a wine tasting in his cellar – an unique experience.
In the afternoon the hike continues downhill to the picturesque town Portovenere, with its fortress dominating the entrance to the Gulf of Poets. During the return by public ferry boat from Portovenere to Monterosso you can admire the whole Cinque Terre coastline from the sea.
Return by train from Monterosso to Bonassola.

Hiking trail: about 6 hours. Altitude difference +/- 600 m

Day 6: The nature park of Portofino

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning you go by train to Camogli, a picturesque town with with beautiful coloured houses and an vivid harbour with fisher boats.
After a short visit of the town you get the ferry boat to San Fruttuoso, a little bay with an ancient abbey, which can be reached only by foot or by boat. From there you hike on a beautiful and varied trail to the famous village Portofino.
Today you have a nice picnic with local focaccia and some typical sweets of the area. In the afternoon you take the ferry boat to Santa Margherita Ligure and then a train back to yo
ur accommodation.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel. 
 
Hiking trail: about 2,5 hours. Altitude difference +/- 300 m

Day 7: Around Montaretto with lunch

Brakfast at the hotel. In the morning short train ride to Framura. Here starts a beautiful coastal trail with great views. You will walk on interesting old lava rocks with fragrant shrubs and herbs.
Around noon you reach the little village Montaretto where you are invited to a lunch with typical local specialities in the little osteria in town.
All dishes are handmade according to traditional recipes, for example the delicious ravioli. Included is also a glass of local white wine.
In the afternoon the trail leads to a wonderful view point above the steep coast and ends then in the town Bonassola.

Hiking trail: about 3 hours. Altitude difference +/- 350 m

Day 8: Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Free time for relax and leisure in Bonassola at the seaside.
Transfer to Genoa airport and end of services.
