- 5 trekking excursions with naturalistic guide as per programme
- 1 cheese & cuts tasting
Today we will walk from the blue hues of Lake Fiastra to the ochre colour of Lame Rosse, a corner of Cappadocia in the Sibillini Mountains district. The spectacle before us in the Valley of Fiastrone is unique: a wild gorge, shaped by the limpid and whirling waters of the Fiastrone torrent. Here, the dissident friars from Clareno found the ideal place to build their church: “Santa Maria Maddalena de Specu”, known today as the “Grotta dei Frati” (Friars’ Cave). Before the end of our hike, we will visit a dairy and enjoy an organic cheese tasting. Dinner and overnight in a typical family-run stone farmhouse not far from Lake Fiastra.
After breakfast, departure from Rubbiano where we will cross a very deep gorge between Mount Priora and Mount Sibilla. A mysterious and intriguing place, for centuries it was the destination of necromancers and scholars of the occult. View the Gorge of the Infernaccio, then stop at the Hermitage of San Leonardo where we will meet the hermit, Father Pietro, and then proceed up to the waterfalls of Fosso del Rio for a refreshing shower. Finally, we will visit the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Ambro, one of the most ancient sanctuaries in the Marche. Dinner and overnight at the farmhouse.
After breakfast, departure from Frontignano and hike to Mount Bove. The mountain's two peaks are joined by a grassy ridge creating a pleasant route with spectacular views of the sinkholes in Val di Panico and mountain peaks opposite. Upon reaching the Cross of Mount Bove, we will have a breathtaking vista of the village of Calcara. Arrival in the village of Visso for a guided visit and tasting of local salumi (Italian cold cuts of meat). Dinner and overnight is in a typical family-run stone farmhouse in Castelluccio di Norcia, a charming village overlooking the majestic karst plains stretching beneath the Sibillini Mountains.
After breakfast, the excursion starts climbing from the Forca di Presta to the Valley of Lake Pilato (1949 m) and the peak of Mount Vettore (2476 m): one of the most challenging and exciting trekking paths in the Mount Sibillini National Park. Afterwards, we will visit one of the most picturesque valleys in the area bordered by the Marche's only glacial lake: “Lago dagli Occhiali” (Spectacled Lake), around which revolve many myths and legends. Visit Castelluccio di Norcia, dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, we will end our journey with the famous Big Loop of the Sibillini Mountains. The walk winds along the ridge that surrounds the Castelluccio basin, renowned for its Karst plains, created by volcanic movements of the earth’s crust and amazing seasonal blooms. Dinner and overnight in the farmhouse.
